2023 Marks Trust’s 50th Birthday
Trust Housing Association celebrates 50 years.
Trust Housing Association celebrates 50 years.
Trust celebrates its 50th Birthday on Monday 23 October. Established in October 1973, born out of a philanthropic movement and its first development was in Bearsden, Glasgow. Since then, it has grown into a National (and modern) social landlord with over 3,600 homes across the length and breadth of Scotland.
As part of Trust’s 50th Birthday celebrations, there has been some planning by our staff teams and customers, with over 70 parties planned in this period. These parties have brought together so many customers, and after long periods of isolation during the pandemic, Trust hopes that these celebrations have given people the chance to reconnect and boost wellbeing.
The customers have had a fantastic time and we have seen lots of singing, dancing, pipers, great food and cakes. This has brought a great sense of community into developments and bringing back the social aspect of living within these homes.
Annie, from the North Church Street Development commented: "We held our 50th year Trust party celebrations on Saturday 2 September. I have lived at the development for 6 years and I really enjoy living here. The afternoon was a great success. The sun shone, the piper played, and the dancers entertained us with Scottish country dancing. The food was delicious, and tenants, families and friends came. We have a great sense of community within and outside our development. We can’t wait for another reason to celebrate. I feel part of something very special."
Rhona McLeod, Chief Executive of Trust commented "So far, I have attended several events, and it has been an absolute joy to catch up with so many customers and colleagues. We’ve been sent lots of pictures already from Developments which really highlight the culture of Trust and our fantastic tenant communities. It’s fantastic to think that we have been doing this for the past five decades, and this year we wanted to make sure that our birthday was marked with special celebrations."
