Impact for our members

SFHA is working to ensure everyone has a safe, warm and affordable home. We do that in a number of ways that strengthen the voices of our members, showcase the amazing work they do and create the change our social homes and social tenants need.

SFHA's impact across housing and government

Whether creating resources that support our members, influencing governments and parliaments or working with the press, we’ve created real change over the past 50 years.

You can find out more about our current policy, public affairs and media work below.

We regularly brief relevant MSPs and MPs before important debates or evidence sessions. This supports our work to influence thinking, legislation, budgets and policy.

Our current press work can be found here, where we raise issues relevant to our members and highlight the work they do to make lives and places better.

Our policy work is here and is guided by the insights of our members. If you’d like to get involved check out our various policy forums here.

We also support politicians to both know what social housing is and how to best engage with our members. You can find our MSPs and MPs guides to social housing linked. You can also find our joint guidance with the Electoral Commission here on what housing associations need to know ahead of an election.

Scotland’s housing associations and co-operatives make lives and places better. We work to demonstrate the work they do every day and show why our social homes should be supported.

From our policy briefings to governance guidance and more, we’re constantly creating and updating the resources we have to support members. You can find our Get Governance guidance here and more public affairs content in the Ways we influence change tab above.
