SFHA rent control briefing: 4 October 2022
This briefing provides an update on what we know and sets out action SFHA has taken and intends to take.
This is our fourth briefing on the Scottish Government’s proposals on an emergency rent freeze: you can find the earlier briefings here, here and here. Now that the legislation has been tabled, this briefing provides a summary of what it contains, the amendments that SFHA is seeking and the expected next steps.
The key points are:
- The Cost of Living (Tenant Protection) (Scotland) Bill has now been introduced and is expected to conclude by Thursday 6 October.
- SFHA is seeking a number of amendments to the legislation.
- SFHA spokespeople have been widely interviewed in the media.
- We expect to meet the Minister for Zero Carbon Buildings, Active Travel and Tenants’ Rights on Wednesday 5 October to discuss the way forward.
