Hillcrest Homes speak to BBC on rising construction costs
BBC Scotland explore the impact of rising construction costs on the development of social homes.
As new inflation figures were published on Wednesday, BBC Scotland’s Reporting Scotland explored the rising costs of construction and material and the impact on developing social homes.
Speaking to Hillcrest Homes’ Fiona Morrison at a partially stalled development, Fiona outlined that the delay was ‘hugely frustrating’ as it ‘stops people moving into much needed homes’.
The piece outlined that the costs of insulation had risen by 28% in a year, with screws and nails up 25%. SFHA currently co-chair a working group on costs with Scottish Government, aimed at bringing the sector together to find practical solutions.
