Research commissioned by the Housing Support Enabling Unit, Scottish Federation of Housing Associations, Scottish Commission for Learning Disabilities, Hanover Scotland, and Blackwood Homes and Care was launched today (4 May).

Recognising the vital role housing support plays in securing accommodation, support and other services for people, the research highlights the need to promote housing support given its important role prevention and delivery of positive outcomes for a whole range of people with support needs.

Housing Support services are key to delivering positive outcomes for many people including older people, people who have experienced homelessness and people with learning disabilities to name a few. It is a key to supporting the Scottish government’s wider agenda on preventing homelessness and supporting people to live well in their communities. In this Learning Disability week, it is a vital support to the ambition in the Coming Home Report and Implementation Plan which aims to work proactively with people with learning disabilities currently detained in hospital – to help them return to their communities to live as independently as possible.

The research report and summary can be accessed here. Please read and share widely and please get in touch if you have views about how we can use the findings to highlight the impact of housing support services more widely.
