The Scottish COVID-19 Inquiry is currently investigating Scotland’s response to the pandemic between 1 January 2020 and 31 December 2022. This independent public inquiry aims to establish the facts, draw out important lessons, and make recommendations to Scottish Ministers. The goal is to help Scotland be better prepared for any future crises.
As part of this vital work, the Inquiry has launched Let’s Be Heard, a listening project designed to gather first-hand experiences from those directly impacted by the pandemic. It is particularly interested in hearing from staff at SFHA member organisations.
This is a unique opportunity for housing professionals to share their insights and ensure the voice of our sector is heard. Let’s Be Heard is keen to understand how the pandemic affected:
- Living conditions during restrictions and closures
- Tenancies, including rent arrears and evictions
- The quality of accommodation and access to green spaces
- Access to housing support services—what worked, and what obstacles were faced
- The impact on those who experienced homelessness before or during the pandemic
Your input will play a crucial role in helping the Inquiry understand the specific challenges faced by housing providers and tenants, and in shaping recommendations that will benefit the sector and those we support in the future.
We encourage SFHA members to attend this roundtable to ensure the voices of housing professionals and tenants are at the heart of Scotland’s lessons from the pandemic.
