Earlier this week (Tuesday 10 September) the energy regulator, Ofgem, held a Vulnerability Summit to examine how meaningful improvements can be made to support vulnerable consumers.

Alongside the Summit, Ofgem has published a new consultation seeking views on proposals for a refreshed Consumer Vulnerability Strategy.

Recognising the recent significant upheaval in the energy sector and impact of resulting price rises on consumers in vulnerable situations, Ofgem is asking for input around the following themes:
  • Improving identification and smarter use of data
  • Supporting those struggling with bills
  • Driving significant improvements in customer service
  • Encouraging positive and inclusive innovation
  • Working with partners to solve issues across multiple sectors
Further details on the Consumer Vulnerability Strategy refresh can be found here.
