Ancho, a housing association in North Ayrshire, held its first family fun day since before the pandemic. On 12 August, around 200 tenants attended Redburn Community Centre, where they took part in activities such as bouncy castles, face painting, balloon modelling, becoming acquainted with birds of prey and playing funfair games.

Ancho, who are part of the Cairn Housing Group, provided goody bags for guests, which went down a treat. All the goody bags left over were donated to North Ayrshire Foodbank. EVERWARM, its planned maintenance contractor, handed out colouring packs for children too.

In addition to all the activities on offer, several partner organisations came along for the day to promote the support that is available to tenants throughout North Ayrshire. These included employability programmes, foodbanks, art and crafts, addiction services, mental health support and cancer care, among others.

Louise Young, Ancho’s Community Support Worker, said: “It was great to bring tenants together in numbers we’ve not seen since before the pandemic. The event went down well with tenants and in addition to the fun they had, we had partner organisations there to provide information and support to anyone who needed it. My thanks go to the staff team at Ancho for putting on such a fun and worthwhile event, and to the tenants for making it such a special day.”
