The SFHA has submitted its response to the Scottish Government's Social Housing Charter consultation.

Reflecting feedback from SFHA members, SFHA has asked that no major changes or additions be made to the Charter at this time.  Many thanks to all members who fed into our response.

We have suggested a few minor tweaks to wording, but nothing that changes the overall requirements outlined in the outcomes.     These suggestions are summarised below:

  • Breaking up long sentences (especially in the supporting description for some outcomes
  • Simplifying the title of the "estate management, anti-social behaviour, neighbourhood nuisance and Tenancy Disputes" outcome
  • Removing reference to "continually improving" in the value for money outcome
  • Updating the reference to EESSH in the Housing Quality and Maintenance outcome to reflect the upcoming review of EESSH2

SFHA submitted the response using the Scottish Government's online consultation hub, Citizen's Space.   A PDF version of the submission is included in the downloads section to the right of this article.

Next steps

Scottish Government has outlined the next steps in the Charter review:

  • After an independent analysis of charter responses concluding in November 2021, a revised charter will be prepared in January 2022.
  • A parliamentary committee will consider the revised charter in January/February.
  • The revised charter will be approved in March 2022 to come into effect on 1 April 2022.
