One of Ayrshire’s leading social housing providers is set to invest more than £11 million in its homes across urban and rural communities.
Ayrshire Housing outlined its investment plans at the launch of its new Business Plan 2030, outlining detailed plans of what the housing association will deliver over the next five years.
Launching the plan Ayrshire Housing’s Chief Executive, Lesley-Anne Junner said: ‘We are very much an anchor within the communities we serve, and will continue to expand and improve the services we offer. Over the next five years we will continue to deliver up-to date, affordable homes which are warm, safe and well maintained. Our people delivering excellence for our customers and communities.’
Ayrshire Housing was established in 2003 through the merger of Carrick Housing Association and South Ayrshire Homes. Since then it has grown rapidly to become one of the area’s leading providers of high quality, affordable rented housing managing 1700 homes in both urban and rural environments.
All improvement work will be based on condition surveys and targeted at homes needing it the most and includes 38 new roofs, 466 new bathrooms, 563 new bathrooms, 452 new Windows & Doors and 815 heating systems.
‘The housing crisis has been well documented, and we are proud of our past record in delivering new, efficient homes in Ayrshire. Our new business plan continues this passion for new build delivery with proposals for 91 new homes outlined,’ said Lesley-Anne.
The new homes will be built across Ayr, Maybole, Coylton and Kirkmichael. The association also plans to bring 50 more existing properties into the social rented sector.
‘To improve the customer experience we will also be putting in place a dedicated Community Engagement team. They will work to provide connected services working with our partners to help customers know how, and where, to receive support when they need it,’ added Lesley-Anne.
‘As part of this the team will be out and about in rural communities to ensure all our customers have a face to face service option.’
Plans were also outlined on how Ayrshire Housing will continue to expand its work with communities to develop vibrant neighbourhood environments.
