This week, Minister for Public Finance Ivan McKee MSP, outlined actions intended to ensure that the planning system is working more effectively. Central to the plans are a new planning ‘hub’ to provide brokerage support for major housing developments which have stalled.
It was also announced that government would stop work on the introduction of an infrastructure levy. SFHA had previously requested that RSLs not be subject such a levy.
There will also be new guidance on land audits, aimed at providing an overall clearer idea of land for housing.
Over the next six months, government intends to work with planning authorities to ensure that national planning policies are applied consistently with the aim of reducing delays.
