The Universal Credit (Transitional Provisions) Amendment Regulations 2022 - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk).

As we have reported previously, the DWP is committed to completing the transition to Universal Credit for people receiving working age income related benefits by the end of 2024 and the regulations aim to help complete the move to Universal Credit. The focus of the regulations is on managed migration, including the ability to contact eligible claimants and manage the transition to UC. The department is taking a test and learn approach to the roll out. Apart from people who move because their circumstances change, initially, it will test out the approach in Bolton and Medway, using the findings to feed into the next steps. However, the department is keen to see voluntary moves on the basis that they believe that people will be better off.

DWP have developed a gov.uk tool to help individuals check the benefits and financial support they may be entitled to. We recommend that if tenants are interested in moving to UC on a voluntary basis, they should seek expert welfare benefits advice.
