Upcoming legislation in England will include a Planning and Infrastructure Bill which will aim to reform planning and increase housebuilding.
Proposals to strengthen private renters' rights in England will also be laid before Parliament, including a ban on no-fault evictions and reforms to leasehold.
The King also announced that GB Energy, a new publicly owned energy company, will be headquartered in Scotland.
There was little announced in terms of immediate reforms to social security, however, a child poverty taskforce will be introduced.
As core housing policy in Scotland is devolved, it is currently unclear what impact, if any, the UK Government's proposed legislation on housing will have.
Any major changes on housing policy which do impact Scotland would likely be as a result of the UK Government's Budget, as well as the Scottish Government's Budget and Programme for Government, all of which are likely to occur in autumn.
SFHA has already begun preparing its policy calls for the respective budgets and will also update members on our key policy asks in the Programme for Government.
