TPAS to share best practice with Queensland Shelter in Australia

Q Shelter is delivering its Q Shelter Web Series from 16 August-27 August 2021. Lesley will talk to housing providers, homelessness services and allied support services who engage with people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness across Queensland.

TPAS CEO, Lesley Baird, has been invited to speak at Queensland Shelter’s web series in August 2021, which will focus on encouraging skills development, learning and collaboration in a range of areas relevant to the housing and homelessness responses in Queensland.

Queensland Shelter (Q Shelter) provides products and services that build the strength and capacity of the housing and homelessness sector. Q Shelter also works with regional networks and members to improve policies and programs responsive to the needs of people vulnerable to homelessness. It works with Government, the community sector and private sector to achieve solutions that make a positive difference.

Q Shelter is delivering its Q Shelter Web Series from 16 August-27 August 2021. Lesley will talk to housing providers, homelessness services and allied support services who engage with people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness across Queensland.

Fiona Caniglia, Executive Director at Q Shelter said, “We reached out to TPAS because of Scotland’s reputation in high quality tenant participation practices and the great work that TPAS Scotland does to support its members. The legislative framework augmented by investment in sector capacity is a shining example and we in Queensland have a lot to learn. 

“Q Shelter and our stakeholders are looking forward to having Lesley as a speaker because we have so much to learn from the policy framework and practices that Scotland are known for. Lesley’s enthusiasm and generosity in wanting to exchange ideas, practices and learning will be a great boost to our thinking about the future of tenant participation in Queensland.”

Lesley Baird said, “I am delighted to be working with our colleagues in Q Shelter to share best practice and policy frameworks from Scotland.  It is important for us to engage with international colleagues to raise the improve skills across the globe and engage with new collaboration partners.  The time difference will be difficult, but for those that know me, I’m always up for a new challenge!”
