The Institute for Public Policy Scotland (IPPR) has published new research into the social and economic impacts of poverty.

Tipping the Scales explores the scale of harm caused to individuals and families by the struggle to get by on a low income, and quantifies some of the impact of this, for example on health and labour market participation.

It finds that social housing plays a key role in preventing and mitigating the impact of poverty, and makes a clear call for increased investment in the sector.
