Tackling the cost of living for tenants

The ongoing cost of living crisis has seen housing associations report an alarming increase in fuel debt, energy rationing and food bank usage, with a potential for a spike in rent arrears.  

Rural communities are particularly disadvantaged due to challenges around affordable warmth and generally higher living costs, compared to the rest of Scotland.  

The Scottish Rural and Island Housing Conference will explore how  we can work together to deliver solutions and provide tools to support tenants in times of crisis.  

Meet the speakers

Peter Kelly, Director, Poverty Alliance 

Peter joined the Poverty Alliance as Policy Manager in 2002 and then became Director in 2004. He is responsible for the overall day-to-day management of the organisation, ensuring that the alliance is delivering the objectives set by the board and members.   

Lukas Hardt, WEAll Scotland 

Lukas is the Policy and Engagement Lead for the Wellbeing Economy Alliance in Scotland and is based in Glasgow. He has several years of experience in researching and promoting wellbeing and post-growth economics.  

Frazer Scott, CEO, Energy Action Scotland 

Frazer is CEO at Energy Action Scotland. He is passionate about the social and environmental justice aspects of sustainable development. He has worked for over 20 years, at a senior level, with large multi-nationals, public bodies, local business, charities, social enterprise and community bodies.
