Around 250,000 people in Scotland – nearly one in 20 people – are waiting for a social home.

The impact that this has on people’s lives cannot be overstated. Yet we’re building fewer and fewer social homes, while the need gets ever greater. That’s why we’re launching our new Still Waiting campaign.

Our social homes make lives and places better, they allow people and communities to flourish. It’s not right that so many lives are on hold, at best, while they wait for their home to become available. But we can turn the tide.

Ahead of the Scottish budget on 4 December, we called on the Scottish Government to prioritise the funding that’s needed to change lives. The funding that’s needed to give people hope they might finally stop waiting.

10,000 children will be spending this Christmas without a home of their own. But we can change that.

We’ve spoken to people across Scotland who are still waiting and over the next few months we’ll be telling their stories.

We launched this campaign ahead of this week's Scottish budget to outline the impact of investing in our social homes. You can read our briefing to MSPs here
