Ahead of today’s (5 May) local authority elections, SFHA developed a toolkit for members to use to take part in its Housing Changes Communities campaign activity.

The toolkit also contains materials that you can use post-election to engage with your elected councillors.

The elections’ focus on local issues presents an opportunity for housing associations and co-operatives to build relationships with their councillors, helping to raise awareness of the positive impact their organisations have on their local communities.

The toolkit includes:

  • A briefing document for members (PDF)
  • Social Housing: An Introduction for Councillors (PDF)
  • Template letter to candidates/elected councillors (Word document)
  • Template press release (Word document) (can be adapted)
  • Social media images

You can also read a summary of the parties' manifestos  here.
