SFHA has published findings from our recent development survey, offering insights into the challenges and opportunities facing housing associations. Last autumn, we gathered responses from 42 members, providing a snapshot of current development activity, future plans, and barriers to developing new homes.
The results highlight rising costs, skills shortages, planning delays and land availability as key challenges affecting affordable housing development. However, despite these pressures, housing associations remain committed to delivering new homes.
Members reported successful funding applications, strong local partnerships and award-winning development projects, demonstrating resilience and adaptability. With the Scottish budget increasing funding for affordable housing, SFHA will continue to push for certainty on long-term investment, development standards and government support for sustainable development.
