What will you be discussing at the Conference?
We will be hosting a session on the pivotal role of early supplier involvement in development projects. Throughout the session, we will discuss the benefits of early supplier involvement in development projects, including how it can help to improve the design, delivery, and operational outcomes. We will also provide advice on how to implement an early supplier involvement strategy within a procurement process, while ensuring compliance with Public Contracts (Scotland) Regulations 2015. Albeit we will specifically be discussing development projects, the same information and guidance can be adopted to all procurements exercises.
Why does early supplier involvement play such a pivotal role in development projects?
Early supplier involvement is vital in development projects because it enables suppliers to contribute their expertise and experience in the design and development of the project from the outset. Thus leading to an increase in the tender response rate at mini competition stage, improved project delivery and outcomes, reduced costs, and shorter project timelines.
What benefits does early supplier involvement bring?
Early supplier involvement allows contractors to provide feedback and insight into a proposed project whilst having the opportunity to identify any potential risks or challenges that the client may not otherwise have identified until later. It also allows for more innovative approaches to be discussed before the requirement is locked down. With a shortage of labour and increasing costs, early supplier involvement is more crucial now than it ever has been.
We are excited to be hosting this session at the SHFA Development Conference as we believe attendees will find it informative and relevant to their work in relation to development projects. We look forward to engaging with everyone at the session and at our stand throughout the day.
