Altair will present the findings of the report at the SFHA Annual Conference on Wednesday 7 June.  Delegates will have two opportunities to attend the workshop session, and I look forward to seeing you all there.

In February, SFHA commissioned Altair to undertake a research project looking at the Scottish Housing Regulator’s Regulatory Framework in practice.  Since then, Altair have been busy completing the various strands of the research.  This included:

  • Further analysis of the member survey SFHA conducted in 2022 regarding the regulatory framework
  • Attending the SFHA Governance Forum in March to gather views (over 80 members attended)
  • conducting interviews with RSL staff (from organisations with varying degrees of regulatory engagement)
  • interviews with statutory appointees and statutory managers
  • comparison with other regulatory regimes in the UK

The report and recommendations emerging from this work will be used to feed into SFHA's response to the SHR's upcoming review of its Regulatory Framework. The SHR is intending to begin informal discussions relating to this in summer 2023, so this research project will conclude at an ideal time.
