Oxford Data Consultancy (ODCGIS) has joined the Scottish Federation of Housing Associations (SFHA) as a sector associate.

ODCGIS offers geographic information system (GIS) mapping expertise and has over 70 housing clients, including many from Scotland.

GIS software combines mapping with a database in order to help people create, manage and analyse information, offering organisations, including social landlords, a way to save money and time.

To promote the benefits of GIS, ODCGIS hosted a series of webinars in which housing professionals shared their experience of using GIS. The first webinar in October 2020 featured officers from Walsall Housing Group, Trafford Housing Trust, Thirteen Housing Group, L&G and SFHA member Cairn Housing Association. You can view the recording of this webinar here.

The second webinar was held in May 2021 and featured staff from Cottsway Housing Association. Walsall Housing Group and Cross Keys Housing Association. You can view the recording of this webinar here.

ODCGIS said: "A particular highlight from the webinar was the GIS Managed Service, where we host and manage the GIS on behalf of the housing association which gets all of the benefits of using GIS, without having to manage it itself. There are currently 29 social landlords that receive this service.

“The social housing market is ODCGIS’s core business, our knowledge and understanding of how GIS mapping helps the housing industry is unique.

"Regardless of whether you have a GIS or not, ODCGIS can help you benefit from GIS mapping, offering a cost-effective solution, tailored to your budget.”
