Jenny Gilruth, MSP for Mid Fife and Glenrothes, has visited the newly developed Kingdom Housing Association site at Bonnybank, around two miles north of Leven in Fife.

The 14 new homes, all for social rent, are part of a £2.1 million development, with funding of £1.1 million provided by the Scottish Government, and feature a housing mix including semi-detached houses, cottage flats and amenity bungalows.

The project is the second phase of the neighbouring development bringing the total number of homes in Bonnybank owned and managed by Kingdom to 25.

The new properties were built by Larkfleet Homes and provide residents with highly energy-efficient homes which meet Housing For Varying Needs’and Kingdom’s own design standards. The project has achieved Building Controls Full Bronze and Silver Aspects 1 & 2 standard of sustainability through the installation of photovoltaic panels on all properties.

Jenny Gilruth MSP said: “The new site at Bonnybank is a wonderful investment in affordable housing in Fife, particularly within my constituency.

"Over £1 million of Scottish Government funding has gone towards a number of modern properties which will benefit those in the Bonnybank area.

“I understand that the homes are also highly energy efficient and sustainable, which is an excellent initiative to work towards a greener, more environmentally-friendly Scotland.”

Bill Banks, Kingdom Group Chief Executive, and Nicola Gartshore, a Project Officer at Kingdom, accompanied Ms Gilruth on the site visit and, with permission from the residents, allowed her inside one of the newly occupied properties.

Bill Banks said: “Our latest development at Bonnybank builds on the first phase and brings even more affordable housing to a stunning part of Fife. Not only do they look great, but the homes are highly energy efficient too.

"Kingdom has a long-standing commitment to sustainability and operating in a way that is sympathetic to the environment. Excellent levels of insulation, combined with solar panels, mean lower fuel bills for our tenants, which is better for them and better for the environment.”
