Milngavie Football Club has received a donation of £1,000 from the Link in the Community Fund.

The contribution from Link – one of Scotland’s largest housing and community organisations, helped to pay for strips and equipment enabling the club to keep participation costs low.

The funding aims to break down barriers and ensure more people can engage in sport without financial constraints.

Milngavie FC coach Mokdad Mezna said: “We were delighted to receive the sponsorship. The boys love their new strips. It is important for us to receive the sponsorship to support the team’s budget, thereby allowing us to support our talented football players. It’s not just a positive impact for the team but also on the wider community.”

The Link in the Community Fund, established 18 months ago, has already donated more than £50,000 to over 100 diverse causes – fostering growth and development in communities across Scotland.

Link Group Head of Community Wellbeing Grant Alexander said: “We are delighted to support Milngavie FC as sport plays a crucial role in improving physical and mental health and wellbeing, enhancing teamwork, and building confidence and leadership skills.

“The impact of this funding goes beyond just financial aid; it empowers local organisations like Milngavie FC to thrive and continue their invaluable work within the community.”
