Latest update on easing of Covid-19 restrictions

Scotland will move beyond level 0 from Monday 9 August.

On 3 August, it was confirmed that Scotland will move beyond level 0 from 9 August, meaning that the legal requirements for physical distancing will no longer be in place but will still be advised where possible.

Some other protective measures will remain, including:

  • continued use of face coverings in indoor settings and public transport as under level 0
  • Test and Protect will continue to operate and indoor hospitality venues, and similar venues, will still need to collect contact details
  • localised restrictions, including travel restrictions, may still be implemented to control outbreaks
  • home working will still be advised, where possible, and employers will be encouraged to consider hybrid models of home and office working
  • events which exceed given capacity limits (5,000 outdoors and 2,000 indoors) will have to apply for permission
  • further guidance will be issued to help individuals and businesses to reduce the risk of transmission.

For RSLs, the announcement means employers should continue to support home working, where possible, however, it is recognised that some staff may begin to return to offices “in line with staff wellbeing discussions and business need”. As previously noted by the Social Housing Resilience Group’s (SHRG), Guide to Managing Services, some services provided by social landlords may be considered essential, and employers should make their own decisions with regard to the re-opening of offices, recognising local circumstances and the latest public health guidance.

The First Minister’s statement can be found here, and the latest Covid-19 information and guidance can be found on the Scottish Government website.

The SHRG Guide to Managing Services has not yet been updated at this time as we await further information from the Scottish Government.
