Changeworks’ Inclusive Smart Solutions project is exploring a new financially sustainable pay-as-you-save business model that supports social landlords to retrofit blocks of flats and integrate smart energy systems.

This approach will support those on lower incomes to reduce their energy consumption and lower their bills by offering smart, flexible energy for tenants by first understanding their energy usage, then maximising when it’s available on a cheaper rate from their supplier.

Changeworks' partner TPXimpact carried out research in August to explore tenants’ knowledge of smart energy technologies. Based on the initial findings we’re now moving into the next phase of research to gather more insight and feedback to further inform the service design. We are especially keen to discover the views of those in or at risk of experiencing fuel poverty.

How can you help?

If you are a housing association, we need your assistance to promote and share the research details with tenants living in social housing in Edinburgh by inviting them to take part in a workshop or a remote one-to-one interview to better understand their views on these topics.

For more information and to request prepared tenant communications, please contact Project Officer Crystal Hill at chill@changeworks.org.uk outlining all relevant details that can be shared with tenants via email or adapted for other suitable formats such as newsletter or noticeboard.

Deadline

Research will take place mid-November, so tenant communications will need to be shared by Friday 25 October where possible to give tenants enough time to register their interest with TPX. The deadline for tenants to register is Monday 4 November.
