Humza Yousaf has announced he will resign as Scotland's First Minister once a successor is found.

It comes after he faced the prospect of a vote of no confidence in his leadership, and that of the Scottish Government as a whole, after ending the SNP's co-operation agreement with the Scottish Greens.

The SNP has now begun a contest to elect their next leader- and Scotland's next First Minister. Former Deputy First Minister John Swinney has so far been the only candidate to announce his leadership bid, with the party's deadline for entering the contest set to end at noon on Monday 6 May.

In one of his final announcements before announcing his intention to stand down, the First Minister committed an additional £80million over two years to the Affordable Housing Supply Programme.

Whilst SFHA welcomed the funding commitment, it warned that it would not be enough to arrest the freefall in housing supply after the Scottish Government's original cut of £196m to the programme in February's Scottish Budget.

SFHA will be calling on the next First Minister to make public investment in affordable rented housing a priority, and will also call on the Scottish Government to provide clarity on important legislation such as the Housing Bill, the Heat in Buildings Bill, and the Social Housing Net Zero Heat Standard.
