With the sun shining and lockdown easing, government guidance and restrictions mean that the upkeep of community spaces remains more important than ever. Home Fix Scotland’s Environmental team has been busy ensuring the outdoor areas around many of its housing complexes remain safe and accessible to aid the transition.
During the last four weeks, the team has been lawn cutting and implementing weed control services, alongside some hedge, shrub, and border maintenance. The team has covered large swathes of ground across the region, including Kilmacolm, Oransey Avenue, Port Glasgow town centre, Slaemuir, Marloch Avenue and Barmoss.
Maintaining the availability and accessibility of green spaces can positively affect people’s mental health, whilst the team’s effort has not gone unnoticed as they continue to combat a backlog of ground maintenance work following its suspension due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Tam Rough, Contracts Manager at Home Fix Scotland, praised the group's relentless work over the last month. He said: “We’ve had a lot of great feedback from our customers, and the ground maintenance staff have done an excellent job, especially given the recent rainfall, and we’ll continue to do all we can to guarantee the upkeep of community spaces across Inverclyde.”
