Hoarding Taskforce - Network Launch and Resource Audit Survey
Introducing the Hoarding Taskforce.
Introducing the Hoarding Taskforce.
SFHA is part of a joint network—called the Hoarding Taskforce—that launched last month (September 2024). The taskforce is in its very early stages, but it brings together an alliance of relevant strategic and local partners from the different sectors of health and social care, social work, Housing, Fire and Rescue and the Care Inspectorate - and is still bringing more partners in. SFHA joins the CIH, Stirling and Clackmannanshire, Pan-Lanarkshire and Glasgow HSCP, Scottish Government officials, and mental health charities as network members. The working group is led by Iriss and spans 2024-2026.
The Taskforce aims to develop a more joined up multi-agency approach across Scotland to this hidden and often misunderstood mental health issue. Our shared ambition is to better manage risk, keep people safe and make effective use of limited resources to support people who hoard, their families, communities and workers. It will adopt a life-span approach.
The Hoarding Taskforce exists to provide important oversight and collective leadership to better understand ‘the problem’ and co-design solutions: including to develop, test, trial new resources or ways of working; building networks and knowledge across sectors; and establishing a strong evidence base of good practice and resource recommendations to support hoarders.
We anticipate there will be many opportunities over the two-year project to involve SFHA members in the taskforce’s work—both in resource production and dissemination—and will look forward to sharing updates and opportunities for participation with you as the network develops.
The first way members can get involved is by participating in the resource audit below, to help build an understanding of existing support tools and guidance that housing providers use. Thank you!
Audit of existing resources in relation to work on hoarding
The Hoarding Taskforce wants to better understand what resources people are currently using. We are interested in what's in use across health, social work and social care, housing, Fire and Rescue and beyond! This might include specific guidance, policies or training resources from your organisation, research articles, national guidance, UK or international documents and training videos.
Please help us by taking part in this audit. It will only take a few minutes to complete the form!
