Eildon Housing Association has shared the passing of former board member Robert (Bob) Stewart.
Eildon said: “We were very saddened to hear of the passing of Robert (Bob) Stewart MBE who gave much of his time to Eildon over the years. When he retired, he took on the role of Committee Member from 2005–2011, and, before then, he was employed as a clerk of works with Eildon.
“In his younger days, Bob followed his father into the Kings Own Scottish Borderers for his three years of national service. After his national service, he completed a joinery apprenticeship with Finlayson’s which was followed by 30 years in the fire service. He was a past president of the Galashiels Braw Lads Gathering between 2003–2005 and was made a life member when his term of office ended.
“He will be very sadly missed, and our thoughts and best wishes go to his friends and family.”
