The Scottish Government is consulting on the introduction of a new tax in Scotland - the Building Safety Levy. This would be applied as an additional charge on new residential development, to be paid by house builders. Revenue raised would support the Scottish Government's work to remediate cladding in existing residential buildings.
The proposal is that affordable homes delivered through the Scottish Government's Affordable Housing Supply Programme would be exempt from the levy.
SFHA will be responding to this consultation and we have produced a briefing paper on the proposals (see in downloads at the right hand side of this article).
If you have any views on the proposals, and in particular on the questions in the briefing paper, please get in touch with gillian@campbellconsulting.scot by Friday 1 November.
