CityFibre joins SFHA as sector associate

CityFibre provides digital infrastructure that enables wholesale customers to provide ultra-fast, reliable and futureproof broadband, ethernet and 5G services to homes, businesses, schools, hospitals, GPs surgeries and anything else that needs connecting.

CityFibre is building on its commitment to bring its world-class digital connectivity to whole communities across Scotland as it becomes an SFHA Sector Associate of the Scottish Federation of Housing Associations (SFHA).

As part of its up to £4 billion Gigabit City Investment Programme, which will bring full fibre connectivity within reach of up to 8 million homes and businesses across the UK, CityFibre is currently delivering its state-of-are full fibre digital infrastructure to seven cities and towns across Scotland.

As part of the rollout, work is underway with housing associations and councils in Aberdeen, Stirling, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Renfrewshire, Inverness and Dundee to bring full fibre to housing association tenants. With its associate membership of the SFHA, CityFibre aims to develop its network across the housing sector, thereby building awareness of the digital infrastructure options available to social landlords and ensuring tenants don’t miss out on infrastructure investment in their local community.

CityFibre’s open access network means that residents can access internet services through a growing list of providers, giving users a choice and ensuring there is healthy competition across the network, resulting in access to gigabit internet speeds at a competitive price.

Unlike copper-based ‘fibre broadband’ services available today, full fibre networks use 100% fibre optic cables to carry data at lightning speed all the way from the home to the point of connection. This gives users consistently faster speeds for upload and download (up to 1,000 Mbps), near limitless bandwidth so everyone at home can work, study, stream or game simultaneously, while providing connectivity users can depend on. 

For landlords, CityFibre’s full fibre network ensures properties are future-proofed, and every effort is made to reduce inconvenience to the local community as work is being carried out. Working closely with local council’s we keep disruption to a minimum and, using modern construction techniques work is completed quickly and efficiently.
