Members of Ayrshire Housing heard the result of the postal ballot at its AGM which took place last week. Six existing members were re-elected on its volunteer board and will be joined by new member Kelsey Kane, the CEO of Ayr based homelessness charity SeAscape.
Announcing the results, Board Chair Simon Leslie said: “that we have contested elections shows how well we are regarded by both our tenants and the wider public.”
Outlining the results for the previous year, Mr Leslie commented: “There was a real fear at the lockdown that housing associations would struggle to due mounting arrears and not being able to let houses. Amazingly, due to the commitment of our staff now working from their homes, we actually saw arrears fall.
“We managed to get our letting activity back on track and keep our repairs service going, with a focus on safety related work. All this has paid dividends in a continued strong financial position. This will ensure that we can get our planned improvement works back on track and continue to acquire and build much needed new housing.”

Mr Leslie added: “We are fortunate in having a staff team who when they come to us seem to stay! Taking into account previous awards, almost a quarter of the team have been with us for 20 years or more.”
The meeting concluded with a prize giving for winners in the association’s garden and pet competition.
