Ark Housing were delighted to welcome a delegation from Himmerland Housing Association in Denmark to visit some of their specialist housing sites.
The visit, which was also attended by the Danish Services Secretariat and colleagues from SFHA, was designed to provide an overview of social housing in Scotland and demonstrated how Ark delivers high-quality services to its tenants.
As part of the event, the delegation visited three of Ark's sites in Edinburgh and the Lothians to allow them to experience first-hand the types of housing models and services provided by the housing association.
The delegation reported that they hugely benefitted from the visit and that it was worthwhile for their own learning as they continue to grapple with many of the same issues in delivering high quality social housing in Denmark, as we do here in Scotland.
Among the sites the delegation visited was Crusader Rise in Livingston which was completed in June this year and consists of 26 new units, six of which are specialist housing for people with disabilities. The homes have been built to the highest energy-efficiency standards, whilst the six specialist homes feature adaptive technology that allows tenants living with physical disabilities to live independently.
