NPF4 sets a clear vision for Scotland with “net zero, nature-positive places that are designed to reduce emissions and adapt to the impacts of climate change, whilst protecting, recovering and restoring our environment.” This will require a suite of policies and tools that are not yet in existence.

delivering the vision of npf4

About the webinar

NPF4 demands a holistic approach to our built environment, which will require collaboration across sectors, with leadership from a variety of built environment professionals and academics.

Following 2 years of research with Strathclyde University, supported by funding from Innovate UK and Scottish Enterprise, Anderson Bell Christie will launch their White Paper, titled Balance. This document will set out a roadmap to deliver the policy change needed to realise the vision of NPF4.

The White Paper addresses the dual narrative of 1) dramatic carbon reduction in buildings through Circular Construction and the formation of a new Deconstruction Industry and 2) rapid urban greening to deliver carbon sequestration locally. Taken together carbon balance can be achieved at a place-based level. Doing so will directly mitigate climate change impacts such as urban heating and flooding, while enhancing biodiversity, air quality and wellbeing.

We welcome all voices in the built environment to share their expertise and discuss the issues raised in the White Paper.
